SAVOR THE BEST MICHIGAN WINE TOURS: OUR TOP PICKS

If you want more adventure out of your “Sip and Savor” experience, then take your adventure off the Castle grounds and into the local vineyards. There are many hidden local gems to complete your Southwest Michigan wine-tasting adventures.

Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or a new enthusiast, we’re confident our local wine tours will deliver nothing less than excellence.

Southwest Michigan has several popular wineries that offer tastings year-round, and most are open daily. You’ll find a range of wines pleasing to every taste, from sweet and fruity to award-winning whites or dry reds.

Our friendly innkeepers are happy to recommend favorite wineries throughout the surrounding community.

We’ve created a carefully curated list of our top recommendations for the best wine tours in the area. All you need is to do is show up, relax, and enjoy a wonderful visit to the Wine Country of Michigan!

Here’s just a sampling of our suggestions for winery options:

Fenn Valley Vineyards

Fenn Valley is the second-largest winery in Michigan. Enjoy the vineyard’s rolling hills and tranquil countryside for an ideal scenic winery experience. Their award-winning wines are worth a try, and we’ll provide a coupon for Complimentary Tastings for Two.

With the purchase of wine, our guests will receive two Fenn Valley souvenir wine glasses. Fenn Valley is open daily year-round (up-to-date hours here).

Modales Wines

Modales Wines offers some of the finest wines in the area, which is why this winery comes in as a close second to our last recommendation. They specialize in small-batch, hand-crafted wines, including red, white, and sparkling wines as well as cider.

They practice a primum non nocere, “First do no harm” policy, which uses minimal intervention in their wine cellar, allowing nature to style their wines rather than other means.

Virtue Cider

Virtue Cider is an excellent addition to our area. In its tasting room, Virtue Cider features European-style hard cider. Their ciders range from bourbon barrel-aged hard cider to very tart or dry traditional ciders.

The ciders you’ll find here are complex with layered flavors, but they may not be everyone’s favorite sips. Still, they’ll please those interested in experiencing the craft cider trend.

Virtue Cider is perfect for a couple eager to try something new. Open every day except Mondays.

Crane’s Pie Pantry Restaurant

Crane’s Pie Pantry Restaurant has been around for years. In 2014, it expanded its offerings to include a line of hard ciders and fruity wines.

The restaurant (located amidst its vineyards) also offers “pie flights.” You can choose four house-made pies in individual mini mason jars, eliminating any fear of missing out.

Crane’s Restaurant also offers a limited soup and sandwich menu for a hearty lunch. Guests looking for something on the sweeter side will have no problem choosing a favorite here.

St. Julian Winery & Distillery

Visit the St. Julian winery and bring a bottle of your favorite wine back to the Castle with you. For helpful guidance, view our Adventure Map and let us help you explore businesses and landmarks nearby.
